Everyone exceeded our expectations which helped BTC capture its sixth straight league title! Congratulations to all who swam this weekend. The racing and attitudes going into this meet were exceptional! This win is a definite team effort! Let's keep up the momentum as we enter our last week of swim team and prepare for the State Meet!!!
I have attached the results from the meet. Please feel free to check out how your swimmers did in the meet. The final team scores are at the very bottom of the document. Ribbons and medals will be given out at the banquet along with ribbons from the distance meet and the State Meet. Here are the scores for the top three teams:

STATES
Entries, Warm-ups & Job Assignments:
We have submitted our State Meet entries for next weekend, and just like Leagues, they cannot be changed! This meet is different from our regular dual meets in that all events are held both days for our younger, as well as the older swimmers. Please carefully review what your swimmers are doing this weekend, and INITIAL their entries so we know you know what they will be swimming. I have also attached the document describing the two days of States and which events are which day. As soon as we know our assigned warm-up times and jobs we will let you know!
Rest & Hydration:
Make sure you children are well rested and hydrated for this meet! We want them to perform their best this weekend, and we would like your help in achieving this. They should start hydrating Monday! Lots of water everyday! It's amazing what it will do for them!
Team Dinner:
There will be a team dinner on Saturday night from 6:30 - 8:30 at Lui Lui's in West Lebanon, NH (just over the state border). The seating is limited to 30 people. Cost is $16.25 per person (please bring cash) and it includes bread/oil, fountain soda, salad, 3 kinds of pizza and 2 pasta choices. Please sign up with Jen C. jfentonc@uvm.edu if you would like to attend. Again, she will take only the first 30 people that respond!
FAMILY FUN NIGHT
Tuesday night from 6:00 - 8:00om is BTC Swim Team Family Fun Night! It's an evening filled with pizza, friends, fun, swimming and more! Please join us at the club, the team provides the pizza and there is a lot of soda leftover from our snack bar! You bring the family, your suits and a dish to share! Festivities start at 6:00 with food and visiting, and then we all head down to the pool for lots of fun!!!
We ask that families please bring the following food item to share for about 10 people!
Dessert: last names Adams - Georgsson
Fruit: last names Harrington - Mitchell
Salad/Veggies: last names Munson-Warnken - Winget

Hello BTC Swim Team Families,
Another hot week at the pool. And a great brunch on Friday! Thank you to Julie and Sarah for all of their organization efforts for such a delicious event!
And a big thank you to all of you parents for all of your support throughout the summer. The coaching staff appreciates all that you do: getting your children to practice on time with all their gear, showing up to meets and supporting and cheering on your children at them, volunteering until dusk when the meets finally come to and end, and keeping your children well-hydrated and rested for our big meets coming up the next two weekends!!!
We cannot stress enough the importance of good nutrition, lots of WATER and rest before the League and State meet. With the thermometer rising and being in the pool, it's easy for little bodies to become dehydrated! Please send you children to practice with full water bottles for the next two weeks!!! We thank you in advance for this!!!
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS:
- Monday, July 25 - team tie dye; send a white shirt with name on the tag and a ziploc bag
- Tuesday, July 26 - clinic this week will focus on starts and turns. Please sign up in the office and not with Cora. We need a minimum of 3 children to sign up in advance for this clinic to run. Please pay cash or checks payable to Marcella directly!
- Thursday, July 28 - let the coaching staff know if your children are going to States, and if so, which days they can swim! See information below.
- Friday, July 29 - Leagues: distance events (100 fly, 200 free, 100 IM, 100 breast and 100 back) See note below!
- Saturday, July 30 - Leagues: morning session for 8 & unders and 9-10 age groups swim, afternoon session for 11-12, 13-14 and 15-18 age groups swim
LEAGUE MEET INFORMATION:
Friday & Saturday July 29 & 30 - League Meet at Town of Essex pool (Sand Hill Road). Entries will be posted late Monday night or early Tuesday morning! As soon as they are posted, please check what your children are swimming and initial their names on the entries posted on the bulletin board. This way the coaching staff knows everyone will show up for their events. Remember, unlike a regular dual meet, League entries cannot be changed! We will post a copy of them in the tent as well, especially for relays!!! As soon as we know warm-up and volunteer assignments, we will send them out to you!
STATE MEET INFORMATION:
We will be working on State Meet entries this week. They are due Sunday, July 31, the day after Leagues. Please respond to this email by Thursday to let us know if you child will be attending, and if so, which days they are available to swim. Remember there are new qualifying times, so as to include more swimmers. Please check them out at the Vermont State Swim Association website:
http://www.vtswim.org/vsadox/VSAstds.pdf
And if your child does not qualify but would like to come down to watch, cheer and participate in relays, the coaching staff will do their best to include everyone!
Again, please let us know by Thursday if and what days your child can participate in the State Swim Meet at Upper Valley Aquatic Center (in White River Junction, VT).
See you poolside,
Your Coaching Staff - Cora, Marcella, Kailey, Tom, Jeffrey, and John
July 18, 2011
Hello BTC Families,
A huge thank you to all the families and swimmers who participated in the Distance Meet on Friday night. I am especially thankful to all the parents who helped time, staying through the 500s! And to Tom Buzzell and Lisa Hebert for officiating on deck for all of the meet!!!
BTC has had a great season so far, and with one more dual meet, please hang in there! Town of Essex Swim Team (TEST) is another big team and we should see some great swims on Thursday night. Please plan accordingly to arrive at the Sand Hill Road pool by 5:00 as traffic in Essex is not the most pleasant experience!!!
The Swim Team Brunch is fast approaching! There will be a sign up sheet going around this week and at the meet. Please see Julie Brancato to see what is needed and what you can do to help! Thank you!
**PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS**
Thursday, July 21 - last dual meet at TEST on Sand Hill Road in Essex. Please arrive by 5:00pm for stretching, handing out cards and getting in for warm-ups!
Friday, July 22 - Swim Team Brunch at 11:30. Please sign-up to bring something in and help out!
Friday, July 22 - League Meet entries are due. The coaching staff will be working on these throughout the week. If there is an event your child would like to do, please let one of us know, and we will do our best to accommodate, but make no promises. There are still a number of families who have not let Cora know if they are able to attend. Please let her know asap! And one important note about League Entries - They CANNOT be changed after they have been submitted. This is why it is of the utmost importance that you let us know ahead of time if you will or will not be there! We appreciate your help with this!
Monday, July 25 - Tie Dye! Please bring a white team (with name on tag) and a ziplock bag big enough for the shirt to go home in without running! And remember the longer they sit, the better they turn out!
And, as always, thank you for being such great parents and families! We love all of your help and continued support!
The Best Coaching Staff Ever - Cora, Marcella, Tom, Jeffrey, and John

Hello BTC Swim Families,
Just a couple of notes for everyone:
Tuesday Practice
Tomorrow's fun/surprise practice will be weather and numbers dependent. We will be running/jogging/walking off BTC grounds as a team. If you are uncomfortable with this and would like to have your child(ren) remain at BTC, one of the coaches will stay at BTC to do other activities with those kids. If the weather is yucky (rain, thunder, etc) we will not go on our run. If there are only a few children who will be running, we will remain at the club and do whole team bonding activities and games instead.
Distance Meet & Events
I have received emails from a lot of families wondering about the distance events and meet. Entries for the meet are due Tuesday night, tomorrow at 5:00pm. Any children who are under 10 would only be doing the 50 free and 100 IM. Any children who are 11 and older can do 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 100 IM, 200 IM, 100 fly, 100 back and 100 breast. This is a great opportunity for your children to qualify in more events for the State meet. Yes they can qualify at Leagues, but they may not have the opportunity to swim some of these events. If you circled the Y on the attendance sheet for the distance meet, I will be entering your child for Friday afternoon!
We will send out volunteer jobs and warm-up times as the meet approaches
States
The new qualifying times for States are out.
The new times will allow for more children to qualify!!! If there is an event that your child is close to qualifying for, and you would like them to swim it in the next couple of meets, please let the coaching staff know! We would love for most of our team to get the chance to go to the meet!!!
Please book your hotel rooms now! The room block at the Residence Inn expires this Friday. It will also be Shriner's weekend in White River Junction, so get your rooms now!!!
Thank you,
The Coaching Staff - Cora, Marcella, Kailey, Tom, Jeffrey, and John

Hello BTC Swim Team Parents
Thank you again for a great week at the pool. Whole team practice was a great success, and big thank you to Shireen who made a poster that was sent to Tomas! And another big thank you to the families who have been bringing in yummy Friday treats for the team!
**SPECIAL NOTE**
For those families who will be attending Leagues and States - if you plan on attending and do not swim in the winter, I suggest you sign up for the distance meet this Friday to get times to qualify for more events. If you do swim in the winter, I need times from distance events. More specifically: 10 and under - 100 IM and 50 free times, 11 and up - 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 100 fly, 100 IM and 200 IM times. If you could send them to me via email, that would be greatly appreciated:

Hello BTC familes...
Here are the first series of photos I have to share. If you feel your child is not well represented among the photos, please point let me know. I will not be at the meets this week, so if anyone want to be on duty to capture the action, I'd appreciate it.
These photos are linked through Picasa web albums and available only to those who have the link, in this case swim team families, not the general public. More to follow from our additional swim meets and swimmers of the week.
Enjoy, and go BTC!!

Hello BTC Swim Team Families,
Thank you for a great week at the pool! The team is looking great with our new shirts, suits and competing so well!
I hope you are all getting the hang of how swim meets run. If not, please feel free to ask any of the coaches.
Special Notes:
We are asking that parents not enter the bullpen with your children at swim meets. It is already full with so many swimmers. Feel free to drop your children off at the gate and then watch them in the pool. We appreciate your help with this.
We are also asking for your help during practices. If parents could leave your children in our capable hands and leave the pool deck during practice, that would be great.
Mark your calendars:
- Monday, July 4 - no practice. Happy Birthday America! Enjoy the long weekend
- Tuesday, July 5 - swim clinic 11:00 - 11:30, focus on butterfly. Cost is $10.00 a child, maximum of 10 children allowed. PLEASE sign up in the office if you would like your child to participate.

The coaching staff would like to thank you for all of the support you've shown us and to your children. Please keep helping your children realize the many accomplishments they are achieving!
We wouldn't be able to do this without all of your help!
Thank you for helping us run such great swim meets and having the best swim team in the State!

It was definitely a learning experience for those of you who are new to Vermont summer swimming. I assure you future meets should run much smoother now that we have our first one under our belts!
The meet also went later than usual, and with our next four meets at home in our eight lane pool, they should go much quicker!

Swim Suits
Gretchen King has received most of the suits, though more are expected Monday. She would like to hand them out at the practices on Tuesday and then before the meet. Hopefully we will have most of the suits (although we will be a few short for Tuesdays meet).
Gretchen will be there:
Tuesday:
Practices:
8:45-10:15a
Before Meet:
4:15-5:30
Tee Shirts
Tee Shirts are expected to arrive Tuesday morning. Myself and Kim Keyes will try to arrive Tuesday before the meet at 4:15 to pass out shirts. Unfortunately we needed to order shirts prior to most registration forms were turned in. I have increased some youth request sizes up by one size. If you ordered adult sizes and would like to have a larger size we can accommodate that but we do not have any extra in the smaller sizes. If you are looking to get a smaller size than you are given we will need to place a second order.
Enjoy your weekend, Jen

In addition, you are welcome to volunteer during the meet. There are several places to sign-up. You can email me or sign-up on the swim team bulletin board. You do not need to do both. My email is ppizer@comcast.net or (703) 599-6886. There is a clip board at the concession table each meet where you check your name off for the item you brought. Please remember to do this.
